Speccing Glass-Front Cabinet Doors: Frames, Glazing and Lighting

JULY 24, 2026  ◆  3 MIN READ
IN SHORT

A glazed run is a stage: the frame is proscenium, the glass is invisible, the lighting is the show. Spec all three deliberately.

Frames and rebates

Our Glazed series frames rout a standard rebate for 4 mm glazing, retained by bead or silicone per your glazier's habit. Colonial-grid designs carry true muntins — glass panes sit individually for the authentic shadow, not a stuck-on lattice.

Glass choices

Clear float for display, low-iron where whites matter (standard glass greens them), fluted or reeded glass as the trend pick, satin-etch for 'hide the mugs' honesty. Local supply keeps transport risk with the glazier.

Lighting the box

In-cabinet LED at 2700–3000 K on the top face, shelves in glass to let light fall through, and a dimmer — display cabinets at 20% at night is the luxury nobody regrets. Wire before the boxes hang.
