Install-Day Checklist for Lacquer Doors: From Van to Sign-Off

IN SHORT

Perfect doors meet their riskiest hour on install day. The checklist is boring by design — boring installs have no stories.

Arrival and staging

Check cartons against the schedule before signing; stage flat or near-vertical on padding in a finished-floor room, never leaned bare against studs. Blankets stay between pieces until each is hung.

Hanging sequence

Uppers before bases (no leaning over finished bases), tall units first for reference lines, drawer fronts last after runners are aligned. Clip hinges, set door, adjust plates — never carry a door by an open hinge.

The final pass

Walk the run at eye level: gaps even, faces flush, dampers engaging, bumpers on. Fit handle jigs before drilling — one mis-drilled gloss door is the day's whole margin. Leave the care card and touch-up kit on the counter, photographed for the file.
